High Point Market Q+A with Molly Basile, Lee Owens, and Emily Gonzalez
Happy Friday, y’all! For my final post on High Point Market trends I have interviews from not two, but three fabulous designers! Today I am featuring Molly Basile, Lee Owens, and Emily Gonzalez from Bolick & Prince. These ladies were truly the best, and provided me with so much insight and fabulous photos that they took at Market. I can’t wait for you to read all that they had to say, so, let’s jump right in!
MOLLY BASILE
1. What was your favorite showroom this year at market?
Lighting is one of my favorite things in a room so I loved visiting Visual Comfort and seeing their latest fixtures in person - so many stunning options! Highland House was also gorgeous - every detail flawless.
2. What was your favorite fabric trend? Why?
Jewel tones and velvets seemed to be popping up! It’s not for everyone or every space but the combination of rich colors and buttery soft velvets can be so luxe.
3. What was your favorite furniture trend? Why?
Cane, wicker and wovens are having a moment! Love pulling in this natural texture.
LEE OWENS
1. What was your favorite showroom this year at market?
Highland House was easily my favorite this spring — fresh colors, spring patterns, classic silhouettes finished in contemporary materials.
2. What was your favorite fabric trend? Why?
I was really feeling the chunky basketweave, both in rugs and fabrics.
3. What was your favorite furniture trend? Why?
I’m absolutely loving upholstered legs on sofas and lounge seating. By continuing the fabric onto the leg, it allows more freedom for the finishes of casework and other pieces throughout a space. Saw this in several showrooms.
EMILY GONZALEZ (BOLICK & PRINCE)
1. What was your favorite showroom this year at market?
My favorite showroom this year at market was most definitely the House of Harris showroom for Chaddock Home, it was a jaw dropper. They had the most beautiful hand drawn, floor-to-ceiling murals in their showroom. I think that I am naturally drawn to soft hues, so I loves the mix of the of the mauve with the soft blues and the landscape design on the paper.
2. What was your favorite fabric trend? Why?
I saw a lot of layering florals this market. As you can see in the picture from House of Harris with the lampshade and the mural. I also saw this in Highland Houses showroom lots of florals with very large repeats that pack a punch in small space - I am really loving this fabric trend!
3. What was your favorite furniture trend? Why?
I also saw a mix of of so many types of nesting tables which I loved - nesting side tables & nesting coffee tables. I think it added depth and a different form of texture to the space. I like how it can make the space more transitional for entertaining or open it up as needed that was probably my favorite trend of market.
So, after hearing from all of these talented designers, some of the main trends we can expect to see for this season are: performance fabrics, green, wicker, florals, and more ornate/traditional furniture lines!
A HUGE thank you to all seven designers who took the time to answer my questions for these posts, and thank you to YOU for reading along! I had so much fun getting to learn more about Market and get an “insiders” perspective, and I hope you did too!
Let me know in the comments what trend you are most looking forward to, can’t wait to hear from y’all!
There’s always Something to Style Over!
