The Chic Seat: Brittany Forsling (Larsen Beckett)

Happy Monday! Thank y’all so much for all of your kind words and support on The Chic Seat. I’ve been having so much fun with these interviews and I’m thrilled y’all are excited about them as well.

Today, in the Chic Seat I have Brittany Forsling, of Larsen Beckett, who is one of my favorite inspiration and lifestyle follows on Instagram. Brittany shares stunning interiors, delicious recipes, and a perfect glimpse into her everyday life. I know y’all will love getting to know her a little more!

Meet Brittany!

What does the term “tastemaker” mean to you? For me, it’s more than just knowing where the trends are going and presenting them. It’s the joy that comes from using what I know and love to create content that inspires others.

Define your style (interiors or fashion) in three words.

Curated, classic, and conversation-starting. I think those apply to my fashion choices and interiors

What is your favorite entertaining “hack”?

An abundance of fresh flowers, a hidden scented candle, and a great playlist!

What is your biggest source of inspiration?

Travel, hands down. You just can’t beat the insight that travel gives you, whether it’s in a historic town an hour away or a two week trip around europe. Take in the food, the colors of the buildings, the way people dress. And take lots of pictures to refer back to--you’re bound to be inspired by something!

What is your favorite china pattern? If you have one.

I’m partial to my wedding china, the Golden Laurel pattern by Herend. However, I’ve started collecting serving pieces in Herend’s Chinese Bouquet in blue, orange, and green so I can mix and match per occasion. I have fun hunting for partial sets of beautiful patterns at estate sales for everyday use as well.

What are your three favorite Instagram accounts to follow?

This is a tough one, as it changes regularly.  I’ve been loving everything @annewagonerinteriors posts lately. She’s a very talented designer. @savoringtheflavoring is a great follow for recipes. As a bonus, she’s beautiful and hilarious! The ever popular for a good reason @things.i.bought.and.liked posts stories I always wait to watch until I can really pay attention. I’ve purchased so many things she’s recommended!

What is your go-to adult beverage?

An extra dirty, wet, gin martini. Bonus if they have Plymouth Gin.  Yes, it’s a blush inducing order, but it’s what you have to say if you want a dirty martini the way they were originally made! Somewhere along the way they’ve gone from equal parts vermouth and gin (i.e. wet) with a heavy dose of olive brine (extra dirty), to the dry, barely colored vodka concoction they are today. I’m keeping the original alive one drink at a time!

Must have item in the kitchen?

Maldon finishing salt and, as Ina says, a really good olive oil. Tip: buy the smallest, darkest colored bottle of olive oil you can find. As soon as it’s opened it starts to oxidize and lose flavor.

Must have item in your wardrobe?

High waisted dark denim that perfectly accentuates my features. For me, they’re J Brand.

If you could have lunch with one person, past or present, who would it be? And why?

Barbara Bush, unfortunately past. She was married to a president, and raised another (and a governor).  We all know a man is only as good as the woman behind him, so whether you agree with their politics or not, there’s no denying the matriarch of the Bush family showed the country a woman can be strong and exude class.

I love your Instagram and how widespread your content is. What do you consider your “niche”, if any?

Thank you! My bi-line is “all things necessary and proper,” and it’s the question I ask myself before I post anything. Is this necessary? Am I representing what I would consider the “proper” way of doing things? While I focus mainly on interiors because I’m immersed in the field day in and day out, I think my niche is my appreciation for the classics and how I incorporate those practices into my daily life.

What is the history behind the name Larsen Beckett?

Larsen is my middle name and Beckett is my first son’s middle name.  They’re both unique, and honestly, I just liked how they sounded together.

What are your future goals and aspirations for Larsen Beckett?

Do I have a word limit? ;) Short term, I hope to share more original images of my home, kitchen shenanigans, and fashion choices, and continue to share inspiring work of others on Instagram. I’m working on updating my websites’ shop pages and writing content for added value. Long term, I’ve always envisioned having a shop with unique home decor items, a highly edited collection of clothing, and entertaining essentials. I may or may not have already secured the Instagram handle...
