The Chic Seat: Born on Fifth

First, I want to thank y’all for all of the support thus far on The Chic Seat! I’m so glad y’all are loving these posts as much as I do. I’ve had so much fun getting to know these ladies, and it’s so rewarding to know y’all are too!

Today’s guest in The Chic Seat, is Emily Hertz, from Born on Fifth. Emily is a fabulous mom of a precious little girl, Elle, and a baby boy on the way. Her aesthetic is feminine, and timeless, filled with pastels and stunning florals. Emily is not only inspiring, but so sweet! I know y’all are going to love getting to know her and following along with her and her family.

Meet Emily!

What does the term “tastemaker” mean to you?

Someone who knows and owns their style, and is confident sharing it with others.

Define your style (interiors or fashion) in three words.

Sophisticated, Ethereal, Feminine

Share three photos from your Pinterest or saved images on Instagram that are currently inspiring you.

I actually created an Instagram account to house all of these photos! When I would share my Instagram saves from time to time people always asked whose handle it was...so I decided to turn it into one: @bowsandblue.

What is your favorite entertaining “hack”?

If you can’t hire someone to help clean up, be sure your friends are invited to your dinner party.

What is your biggest source of inspiration?
Visually I find a lot of inspiration on Instagram, since I spend so much time with my phone in my hand. I do love to go to conferences (like RStheCon, Creative Camp and The Southern Coterie) to connect with fellow creatives in real life and always come back feeling recharged and inspired.

What is your favorite china pattern? If you have one.

I registered for and have Herend Fortuna and Princess Victoria but would love a set of Rothschild Garden too. I just got the most gorgeous Richard Ginori plates from The Avenue that I’m totally obsessed with. This is a table I styled for Atlanta Magazine’s HOME two years ago...florals just hold up!

What are your three favorite Instagram accounts to follow?

@greatthingsibought is a new favorite. Courtney is insanely beautiful, kind and stylish.@caitlingeierfisher is an old favorite and I honestly feel like we’re best friends who just happen to not have met in person. I launched @sarablakely on Instagram right after I had Elle and still love her account.

What is your go-to adult beverage?

It’s been a while (I’m almost nine months pregnant!), but I do love a glass of rosé while dining al fresco in the summer, or a good cab any other time.

Must have item in the kitchen?

Flowers

Must have item in your wardrobe?

I’m just so happy it’s almost spring again...love anything pastel and floral. Bonus if it comes in Elle’s size too.

If you could have lunch with one person, past or present, who would it be? And why?

Aerin Lauder. She’s a powerhouse with the most impeccable taste and style. I would love to be in her presence.

Obviously, Instagram is a highlight reel, but what are some ways you keep your home and life “fabulous” while being pregnant and having a toddler?

I assure you it looks far more fabulous on Instagram than it is! Flowers help. Heels help. (Though my swollen ankles beg to differ.) I think enjoying the celebratory moments and seeing the beauty in things--whether that’s a pretty tablescape or a lovely outfit are small ways to glamorize the day-to-day (of being pregnant with a toddler). I feel so fortunate to have Elle and another baby on the way...but will rejoice when my clothes fit once again.

Emily’s Top Picks!
