The Chic Seat: Darby Clark

Today’s guest in The Chic Seat is Darby Clark! Darby is the daughter of Atlanta interior designer, Nancy Izlar, and has recently been growing a social media following of her own. I began following Darby a couple years ago when she got engaged, and I loved following her wedding progress and seeing the big day come to fruition. Darby is now using her platform on Instagram to share fashion picks, lifestyle, etc.

What does the term “tastemaker” mean to you?

I believe a tastemaker is someone who has a love for beautiful things and has a  natural skill set is to host.

What is your favorite entertaining “hack”?

Coming up with a menu that allows me to do the pre-work on the front end, so that I can enjoy our company and not be running around the kitchen.

What is your biggest source of inspiration?

Definitely my mother. Not only is she a very talented interior designer, but also a flower enthusiast. I still remember going to ADAC on a weekly basis, following her around all the showrooms. My favorite part about this was getting all the fabric, wallpaper, and carpet samples. If she wasn’t designing a client’s home or building a floral arrangement, she was entertaining. She loves every aspect of curating an event - from the invitations to the creative cocktails. She is my first phone call whenever I am scheming something - whether it be a small dinner party or annual galentines affair. She is full of creative ideas no matter the occasion.

What is your favorite china pattern? If you have one.

Ooh, that’s a tough one. I love to mix and match. My go-to is Herend Princess Victoria (light blue) paired with Anna Weatherly  “Anna’s Palette” (sky blue and gold).

What are your three favorite Instagram accounts to follow? @nicolabathiedesigns, @bornonfifth, @thefashionbugblog

What is your go-to adult beverage?

A festive flute filled with Veuve Clicquot.

Must have item in the kitchen?

For lazy Sunday dinners, the All-Clad Gourmet Slow Cooker. You can make just about anything in it!

For early mornings during the fast-paced week, I rely heavily on my Vitamix for a healthy start to the day.

Must have item in your wardrobe?

Party dress accompanied with stylish accessories

Your wedding was gorgeous! What details were you most excited about?

Thank you so much! Aside from my dream dress and handsome husband, the added personal touches are what made it so special to me.

Our save-the-dates were a watercolor crest with our two dogs, Millie and Maddie painted on each side. If you know me, you know how I feel about my fur babies :)

I am slightly monogram-obsessed. Whether it be linens, jewelry, travel bags - it is monogrammed. Because my name was changing, I wanted to have my new initials incorporated in the reception. Our wedding cake, dancefloor, pillows and napkins were all monogrammed with my new initials, DFC.
