All About Toile, Y'all.

Happy Wednesday, y’all! Before we get started I want to say thank you SO much for all of the birthday wishes on Monday. I hope y’all enjoyed my post and getting to know a little bit more about me. It was so fun to write and share with y’all who’s behind Something to Style Over. Okay, now back to interiors :)

I’ve always had a love for toile. My grandmother has a black and white toile wallpapered Powder Room and a blue and white toile Guest Room that I have always adored! Toile is classic and sophisticated but can easily be dated if not used correctly. I love seeing designers use this timeless fabric in new and inventive ways to make it feel fresh and inspired.

Toile is a classic fabric/look that everyone can recognize, it has been around since the 18th century and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Toiles were traditionally monochromatic, and often still are, but now we tend to see multi-colored variations as well.

You’ll notice that rooms that incorporate toile tend to lean on the more traditional side in terms of furniture and overall look but I think that is part of the charm of using such a timeless pattern. Some of these rooms have the traditional style toile and you’ll notice some have a modernized toile. The modernized toile is used how a traditional toile would be but the pattern is bigger and less depictive than it traditionally would be. I love seeing how designers and creatives have put modern spins on timeless prints to make them relevant and fresh.

There’s always Something to Style Over!

xx, Lea
