Georgetown Guide

I’m so excited to finally be posting my Georgetown Guide! I’ve been living in Georgetown for about a year and a half, and it is truly a wonderful place to live. There is so much to see, do, and eat, and the energy is electric. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun new place to visit! Georgetown has the most gorgeous architecture, I could spend hours exploring the charming cobble stone streets.

One of my favorite parts of traveling and exploring new cities is the architecture. So, in my guide I’ll be sharing restaurants, antique stores, and pretty streets and areas to explore and take photos. When I’m traveling I always plan out detailed itineraries and do heavy research ahead of time. As a (guilty) millennial, I’m always looking for photo opps when I travel. Sometimes when you’re walking around a new city it’s hard to just happen upon areas to explore, so I want to share with y’all some of my favorite areas in Georgetown! For the sake of respecting the homeowners privacy, I’m not going to share photos of the houses with specific locations but I do have tons of photos below for you to enjoy.

In addition to areas to explore I wanted to share some of my favorite restaurants with you as well. I tend to be picky about atmosphere when it comes to restaurants so, if you’re like me, and Yelp reviews just don’t cut it, this is the list for you! I’ll also be sharing some fabulous antique shops in Georgetown, because well, gotta stay on brand.

So, without further ado, here is my official Georgetown Guide!

Restaurants

  • Martins- Martins is a historic spot in Georgetown that has been around since 1933. It is a hot spot for locals, and it is not unusual to have a celebrity or politician spotting! Martins has classic American comfort foods and fabulous cocktails, it is a great spot for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is a smaller venue but it is cozy, and the energy is great.

  • America Eats- America Eats is fairly new to Georgetown but it is already very well known since it is one of Jose Andres restaurants. I would describe the food as classic American with a twist. They also have a cool “rooftop” bar area that is perfect to grab a drink or watch a sports game!

  • Filomena- Filomena is another classic Georgetown spot. This is my favorite place to take guests, or spend a special occasion because the food is truly incredible! As you can probably tell from the name, Filomena is an Italian restaurant. The family recipes, homeade pasta, and to die for flavors make this a must-go on your list! They also have stunning holiday decorations.

  • Baked & Wired: Contrary to popular belief, Georgetown Cupcakes is nothing special. People spend so long waiting in line, but save your time and go to Baked & Wired. The cupcakes and other treats are far superior and you’ll get more of a “local experience”.

  • Cafe Bonaparte: Cafe Bonaparte is a delicious little French spot away from the hustle and bustle of M Street. If you’ve ventured up Wisconsin Avenue to explore the antique shops, then Cafe Bonaparte is the perfect place for you to grab lunch!

  • Compass Coffee: If you are looking for something a little more local for your afternoon pick me up, Compass Coffee is the perfect place. Located on Wisconsin Ave., Compass Coffee is the perfect place to grab a little caffeine while exploring the city. It is located in the old Georgetown Theatre, which is so neat.

  • District Chicken & Gyro: DCG is a little more “hole in the wall” than the other restaurants but the food is delicious! Their gyros are authentic and full of flavor, and it’s central location makes it a great spot for a quick lunch.

  • Clydes: Clydes is located in the heart of Georgetown, right on M Street. Clydes is another American restaurant with fabulous sandwiches, soups, and more. The energy is upbeat and enjoyable, and it’s a favorite of mine for lunch and dinner.

  • Pinstripes: Calling all brunch lovers! Pinstripes is located on the Canal in Georgetown, and is a definitely a hot spot. They have the most incredible brunch buffet with a waffle station, omelet bar, and more. If you’re looking for a fun activity they also have a vintage style bowling alley!
